Departures and arrivals

Juste En Joy departs Abel Point Marina, Airlie Beach, every Sunday and Wednesday at 10.00 a.m, and returns every Tuesday and Friday at 4.00 p.m. However, please contact us if you need to schedule outside these days.

Should you decide to extend your sailing adventure you will receive a special itinerary advising your embarkation and disembarkation dates and times.

Getting to Airlie Beach

Visitors to Airlie Beach use two main airports: Great Barrier Reef Airport, Hamilton Island and Whitsunday Coast Airport, Proserpine. If you arrive at Proserpine Airport, a Juste En Joy car will pick you and up and transport you free of charge to the boat or to your accommodation.

Transfers from Hamilton Island to Airlie Beach are available by catamaran (40 minutes) , helicopter, light aircraft or seaplane (15 minutes). Transfers from Proserpine to Airlie Beach are available by coach or ferry (40 minutes).

Queensland Rail services such as the Tilt Train and several coach services also operate between Proserpine and coastal centres from Brisbane to Cairns.

On arrival

If you decide to make your own way to Airlie Beach please contact your guide, who will either arrange to collect you from your accommodation or meet you at Abel Point Marina prior to departure. Phone 07 4946 5422.

What to bring

Please bring the following items in a small soft bag:

  • swimwear
  • beach towel
  • sun hat
  • sunglasses
  • sunscreen
  • insect repellent
  • practical clothing and footwear
  • jacket or jumper
  • camera and batteries
  • alcoholic necessities (no glass please)
  • personal toiletries
  • personal medication
  • your favourite CDs and DVDs
  • cash or credit cards for drinks and souvenirs

BYO drinks

Please bring your own alcohol and soft drinks (no glass). The bottle shop at the marina is open daily. We will gladly purchase your drinks and place them on board prior to your arrival if you advise us of your requirements.

Storage of baggage

If you need to store luggage or other equipment prior to departure, your guide can arrange this for a nominal fee.

Snorkelling equipment

Prior to departure your guide will take you to a dive shop where you can select a mask and fins that fit comfortably for snorkelling. We will pay the hire fees.

Weather

Sailing is a weather-dependent activity, and so travel plans must be flexible. If certain planned activities have to be cancelled or postponed because of inclement weather, your guide will try to make alternative arrangements that accommodate the wishes of all aboard. We receive regular weather reports through radio contact with our base.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance with coverage for the following situations:

  • loss, damage or theft of your personal property
  • medical emergencies including ambulance cover
  • travel cancellation and interruption
